Mobile Farming coordinates students’ knowledge and NGO expertise with local farmers, in an attempt to bridge the gap between farmers and the market. Our mobile app aims to disseminate crop pricing and weather updates to farmers in SE Turkey at real time — allowing them to better prepare for inclement weather and shifting market prices. The Georgetown Development Initiative will utilise the money available to develop the mobile application and cover the costs involved in incorporating this app in a telecommunication service provider in SE Turkey. This cost is expected to be about $4000. We will be spending $1000 monitoring the reliability, impact and effectiveness of the mobile app after it is implemented. $5000 will be used to cover the costs of transport and providing impoverished farmers with mobile cells to enable them to leverage on our technology.
